What a wonderfully engaging read. The struggles and experiences of a bullied little boy play out on the pages of The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell. Sad yet beautifully written Robert Dugoni takes us along for the ride with Sam. Simply put this an achingly sweet story that very much focuses on the torment many children go through. There is a bit of a religious/spiritual thread that runs throughout and I feel just adds to the overall feel of this book. One of my favorite reads of 2018 ~Tanja Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered, buoyed by his mother’s devout faith, his father’s practical wisdom, and his two other misfit friends.
