I began the read I was embarking on with a set impression that I had formed from Reiss’s previous works. What really took me aback was the overall sweetness of this read; I was in love with both Dash and Vivian. Vivian works as a librarian and currently lives with her aging father. She meets baseball player Dash during a field trip with a group of kids. Events transpire and she finds herself with Dash’s digits and a mission to recover a stolen glove. What she didn’t even begin to expect was that he was a layered kind of guy: one who reads and memorizes sonnets, and who has discovered that he likes the back-and-forth with the smart and well-read librarian. What really made this book for me was the revelation in Dash. He suffers from a common disorder and the sheer mental and emotional chaos that goes on in his mind is compelling as well as captivating.
