The Way Home by Cindy Gerard

3 stars***   I had no trouble reading this as a stand alone even though it seems to be part of a series. Ty and Jess had met before in a previous book and they re-connect in this book. Jess is a widow having believed her husband was Killed in Action. She finally decides to move forward with her life 3 1/2 years later when she feels an undeniable attraction/connection to Ty. J.R. (Jess's husband) is being taken care of by an Afghan woman named Rabia after he found a way to escape captivity. He has lost his memory and doesn't remember his life before captivity. He grows to love Rabia but knows that his presence in her life is putting her and her father in danger. He is torn because he wants to go home but he also doesn't want to leave Rabia. I really loved the idea of this story but I wasn't able to connect completely with the dual love stories that were being told. I was much more interested in J.R. and Rabia's story and I think that maybe this sh

Before We Fall by Courtney Cole

AMAZON | B&N | iTUNES | KOBO One dark moment was all it took to turn twenty-four-year-old Dominic Kinkaide's world black. On the night of his high school graduation, a single incident changed him forever, and he became a hardened man-famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured inside. Now all he cares about is losing himself in the roles that he plays. At twenty-three years old, Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but an absence of moments. She tries to find acceptance in the arms of men to fill the void-a plan that has worked just fine for her, until she meets Dominic.  When jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, the combination of his secrets and her issues turns their attraction into the perfect storm. It could change their lives for good-if it doesn't tear them both apart…

Searching for Someday by Jennifer Probst

Release day is 11/26!! 2 stars**   I really enjoyed the first part of this book. There were some really funny laugh out loud moments. My favorite was the scene where Kate's friend was able to bring 3 strong men down to their knees with the power of Yoga! I love a bit of romantic humor. But, this tone did not last throughout the entire book and for me it got a little boring somewhere around the point when Kate and Slade finally decided to go out together. I wasn't feeling their connection. I think that this book will strongly appeal to those ladies out there who are: a) dog lovers (I actually loved the dog more than the dude) b) fans of the bossy, slightly aggressive, alpha male business man c) love having references to modern day television shows and movies included in their books (I don't watch modern sitcoms so this doesn't appeal to me) d) don't mind waiting until about the last 25% of the book for the couple to finally hook up (

Feel the Heat by Kate Meader (Hot in the Kitchen #1)

4 stars****   I really liked this book... it already had me at hello with the whole food/romance thing which is high on my list of favorite themes for romance. And, add to that a gorgeous British man who is good in the kitchen and knows how to handle his gelato and that just made it even better! I also love all things Italian and really enjoyed Lili's character and how she is coping with being a part of this big Italian family while running the family restaurant. The opening scene really cracked me up... Wonder Woman! What man wouldn't be swooned over by a surprise attack by Wonder Woman. Probably up there next to Princess Leia I bet... I was in the mood for something kind of easy on the heart and the emotions and this book was a perfect fit. Just two people who are stuck in a rut and trying to break free of the personas that they have been given by the people around them. We've all been there I think... there is who I really want to be and then the

Turning Point (Book 3) by Tiffany Snow

Each installment just makes me want more. It takes a talented author to pull me into a book binge, and that is what’s happened to me with the Kathleen Turner series. There is no skim reading. You just can’t! You’d miss something! Each situation just flows into the next, there really are no lulls. Action, adventure, sex and high drama is what you get. Blane, Blane, Blane. You give good swoon… “They say pearls are the moon’s tears,” Blane said quietly. “Or that maybe they’re from angels’ wings, moving through a cloud. They’re beautiful in their purity, striking in their innocence, humbling in their integrity “Just like you,” he said simply . I began to have a change of heart in this one; my main man had always been Blane, but when Kade began to say things like this….. “You make me want things,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “Impossible things”. And…. “I want to tell you how I knew from the moment I laid eyes on you that you were destined to be my
