Family, reconnecting, sharing joy, and love for each other. That's what Christmas and the holidays are all about. Not everyone comes from a family or a home where that happens for them. Some come from broken desolate places and are only able to find that love in the here-and-now. A Warm Heart in Winter encompasses all that for me. It's a wonderful look into the Brotherhood during the holiday season, but it's also a look into Z and Qhuinn. How the broken can be healed with personal love, yet still have lingering issues that don't just magically disappear. It's real. It's work. It's love. I cried throughout this read. Its therapy via printed pages. Thank you to J.R. Ward for acknowledging that even with a happily ever after trauma takes time to heal and people are a forever work in progress.
