Consequences, Truth and Convicted by Aleatha Romig

1 star* Gosh this book was really boring and slow to get through. And I wasted my time and money on this series because I did not get the outcome I had hoped for. This one quote from Claire disturbed me and made me very, very angry... "Some would argue that a foundation built on kidnapping, isolation, violence, an yes -even rape- would never stand. I must disagree. We lived through hell and came out the other side. Like the song says, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I can't imagine anyone having a stronger foundation than ours." The message that this one quote sends to women is disturbing and scary... forgiving the man who kidnaps, beats and rapes me will make me stronger??? I'm sorry but I respect women who have been brutalized and raped by husbands, boyfriends etc... far too much to condone this type of thinking even in fiction. Yes, tragedy can make you stronger Claire but choosing to stay with the abuser instead of walking

CASSIE SCOT PARANORMAL DETECTIVE by Christine Amsden

I have been thoroughly charmed and caught in a spell spun by Christine Amsden.   I am not sure what I expected of Cassie Scot but what I got was a lovable and charming character that has won me over. Cassie a “Marilyn Munster” in a magical family has to carve her own way. When nothing is done for the simple reason of favor but has repercussions and debts to be paid, it can be a little tricky. Cassie runs her own detective agency and works with her former boss the police chief to solve magical/normal cases.   When a client comes into the office with hopes of Cassie serving a subpoena to a love potion making witch thing go from easy to puzzling when Cassie finds a dead body. Only the dead body turns out to be cousin to a powerful and childhood friend/crush Evan. A sorcerer that is rumored to place love spells on the women he meets. They begin to work together to find out who is behind the murders and quickly become gossip.  Added to the mayhem is a crazy and magical family

Thankless in Death (#37) by J.D. Robb

You would think that after all this time and after so many books that this series would get old. Yeah you would think it but thankfully that aint the case! They just keep getting better. Our Eve and Roarke are in a rhythm that makes them the IT couple that they are. The chemistry between these two keeps getting better and better. They have hit a groove that makes me a bit nervous to be honest. It’s that feeling you get when everything is going good….. too good. I hope Robb doesn’t throw us a curve ball anytime soon. The case is a good one. I like a little crazy psychopath in my mystery thrillers. Being in the killers head was a bit different and we spent a lot of time there in Thankless in Death. No real mystery to solve for the reader. It is more like following parallel storylines. It’s a good change in perspective. I liked it very much. On to our faithful crew! Pink cowboy boot wearing Peabody is her sassy self. She makes me smile anytime I see her name on the page. Mi

True Vines by Diana Strinati Baur

5 stars*****   I've attempted writing a review for this book several times now and for some reason I am having difficulty putting into words exactly why I loved it as much as I did. So, simply put... I guess I was just truly connected "emotionally" to the character of Meryl. Was she occasionally an annoying and unlikable character? Yes... but, I think that's why I liked her. She is flawed, a bit self absorbed and can't seem to move past a betrayal by her fiancĂ© and best friend from her youth. She spends a good portion of her life wallowing in her own self misery and never moving forward until Francesco suddenly appears in her life. An older charismatic Italian man who quickly wins her heart. She finally decides to take a chance at love and moves away with him to his small village in Italy. The story begins with Meryl returning to Pennsylvania after Francesco died suddenly. She runs away from Italy in an effort to cope with her grief and fi
