Sookie Countdown #9... Dead and Gone by Charlaine Harris

Book nine in the Sookie Stackhouse series was the one book that had me reaching for my hanky  by the end of the book.  This installment gave us a sneak peak at how brutal and cruel the fae could be if you were the object of their hate.  Unfortunately, Sookie was the object of this hate and the end result crushed her emotionally and physically.  We lost some favorite characters in this episode and it made me sad.  The book begins with Eric and Sookie sort of getting "married"...  Of course, Eric tricks Sookie and she didn't realize they were vampire wedded until it was too late.  He had his reasons for doing what he did...  but doesn't he always??  We also get to learn about Eric's human life...  does it surprise anyone that Eric had six children??  I have no doubt his human wife felt very lucky indeed!  Too bad that Sookie probably doesn't feel the same about her marriage to Eric and I think that is so

Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Sweet redemption! Someone hand me a Snickers! I went into this one with an eyebrow cocked. After what Abbi did to me in Never Too Far ( review here ) I was skeptical at best. Holy dirty talk Batman did she win me back with this one. Woods you dirty talking sexy man you. Woods personality and sweetness is not in question as we got to know him in both Fallen Too Far and Never Too Far . He is a man with a life already decided for him. Overbearing parents with a fiancé and job all picked out for him. Della a girl who grew up with a mother suffering from agoraphobia and a host of mental issues was never allowed outside. Ever. Now Della is on a road trip to discover who she is and what the world is really about. Della and Woods have a chance encounter and….. let’s just say he shows her a very nice slice of life indeed! Woods has a night just for himself. Della gets to experience something she hasn’t before…..many….many….many times (((giggle snort))). We are left with a b

After the Ending by L. Fairleigh and L. Pogue

I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for a review. This is a one star rating I'm afraid... So, this is a story about Zoe and Dani...  they are both separated and traveling with different groups after the world was stricken by a deadly flu virus killing almost everyone.  Those that have survived were all the people who had previously survived the H1N1 virus.  And, apparently this somehow has caused many people to have developed "special powers".  For example, Zoe can sort of read minds.  What???  There is no gas, the phones don't work, no cable, people are looting and the world is falling apart...  BUT apparently there is Wifi everywhere they go...  even in a cabin out in the middle of nowhere there is Wifi!!!  Seriously...  Dani and Zoe are communicating by email as they travel... this makes no sense whatsoever.  But, it

Headed For Trouble by Suzanne Brockmann

Headed for trouble is a collection of stories that cover Brockmann’s Troubleshooter’s series. If you have been a long term fan of the series and are familiar with these characters you are going to love all the side stories. Brockmann also gives her point of view and insights into scenes in her previous books. Very much a “for the fans” collection. What more can I say? I simply adore authors who do this kind of thing for their fans. A giving back.   Thank you Mrs. Brockmann! Cover write up….. New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann, whom USA Today calls “the reigning queen of military suspense,” breaks out a rapid-fire collection of pulse-pounding, heart-tugging stories and novellas featuring the intrepid men and women of Troubleshooters Inc., fiction’s hottest ultimate counterterrorism squad. • Tough-as-nails Troubleshooters operative Sam Starrett learns the agony of loving someone in danger—and the hell of waiting on the home front—as his wife, Alyss

Girl Three by Tracy March

OK to know me is to know I love my Mystery/Romance. So I tend to be a bit selective. No worries here cause ((DING DING)) we have a winner! Girl Three was is a well written smooth read that kept me guessing till the very end. As soon as I thought I knew who the killer was I was confused again. With a little romance thrown in it was magic. Jessica Croft is a bioethicist and has just been asked to join the president’s council. With a judge as her father Jessica has reservations about this appointment.   All this takes second place when Jessica finds out her sister Sam has died. Upon her return to DC Jessica no longer thinks Sam’s death was a heart defect but murder. From the cover…… Bioethicist Jessica Croft, estranged daughter of a federal judge, has avoided the players, power, and passions of Washington, DC. But when her sister Sam’s suspicious death is classified as natural, Jessie resolves to expose Sam’s murderer. Pursuing elite suspects on both sides of the st

Sookie Stackhouse countdown #8... From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris

Well, the action continues in the eighth installment of the world of Sookie Stackhouse.  This is the book where everyone seems to be at war.  After Hurricane Katrina there is a war with the vampires on who will gain control of  Louisiana.  And the Were's continue to battle for the very same reasons.  Sookie, of course is always caught in the middle just when it gets dangerous.  But, there is good news...  Sookie doesn't end up in the hospital, she doesn't get beat up and she doesn't have anyone new fall in love with her.  Considering the past...  this is a move in the right direction.  A small one, but hey...  we'll take what we can get.  We still have the on-going love triangles and we begin to see some of these love interests fall into their proper places...  Here is how everyone is stacking up in the order of their chances of winning Sookie's heart: At the bottom of the list is our stalker vampire

Q & A with L. Marie Adeline... author of S.E.C.R.E.T.

Here is a nice Q&A that I was following from the author of S.E.C.R.E.T. to her fans on goodreads.com.  I love hearing about a story from the author's POV.  And, after reading her comments I think that I am pretty excited about the second installment in this series.  This does contain SPOILERS so do not read if you haven't read the book and don't want to know what happens!  Click  HERE  to link to my earlier review.  --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Which of Cassie's fantasies was the most fun for you to write?" I think the yacht/tugboat fantasy. It kept surprising me. She started in a helicopter, which was hilarious, and then the yacht was intriguing, but as I went along with her, it just evolved into a kind of an action movie scenario. I've never written anything so "dramatic" before. It was too much fun!     This book is very uni

*The Mane Event by Shelly Laurenston

My first time reading Shelly Laurenston. I found The Mane Eve nt to be fun reading. I didn't realize it was two books in one so that was a nice surprise. Book one is about Mac and Dez. NYPD cop Desiree "Dez" MacDermot knows she's changed a lot since she palled around with her childhood buddy, Mace. But it's fair to say that Mace has changed even more. It isn't just those too-sexy gold eyes, or the six-four, built-like-a-Navy Seal body. It's something in the way he sniffs her neck and purrs, making her entire body tingle... The second Brandon and Ronnie. Meanwhile, for Tennessean Ronnie Lee Reed, New York City is the place where any girl―even one who runs with a Pack―can redefine herself. First order of business: find a mate, settle down, and stop using men for sex. Even big, gorgeous, lion shifter men like Brendon Shaw. But she needn't worry, because now that Brendon's set his sights on her, the predator in him is ready to pounce and never let g

*A Taste of You by Sorcha Grace

A young food photographer's appetites are awakened when she is swept off her feet by a handsome billionaire gourmand. Beautiful and talented Catherine Kelly is starting over as a food photographer in Chicago. With her painful past buried in California, she’s focused on her career and is hungry for little else. Until she meets a wealthy bachelor with arresting blue-grey eyes filled with enough tragedy to match her own. William Lambourne is rich, powerful, and gorgeous -- and as talented in the kitchen as he is in the bedroom. From the moment they meet, William is determined to discover the perfect recipe to unlock Cat’s resolve, awaken her senses, and make her his own. Book 1 in The Epicurean series, A Taste of You will leave you hungry…for more! First of all, I absolutely love food seduction! And, I'll start by saying that I'll never be able to look at a chocolate filled croissant again without smiling. There was one scene in thi

*Claim Me by J. Kenner

Well heloooooo lover! It has been a few since I partook in the pleasure of Romance/Erotica and I must say….. LOVE this one. If you like EL James, Raine Miller and Sylvia Day you are gonna love this writer too. Nice writing style and an easy flow to this book.   After reading the first few chapters I realized that this is a trilogy, Stark Trilogy, and I have missed book one, Release Me . You won’t be lost reading out of order but there is a heavy subject matter touched on in this book that I find myself wanting to put it down so that I can catch up with book one and enjoy the ride book two is giving me. The sexy talk between these two is sweet and erotic all at once. I find myself liking this couple very much. They are drawn together but not with the overdone jealousy/possession that seems to be a trend these days. A job turned love, although not admitted.Complete reading candy! So to sum it up 4 out 5 Erotica Stars for this one. From the cover…….. For Damien,
