"Heart-tugging small town romance with real emotion.
Struth is an author to watch!"
Laura Drake, author of RITA-award winning The Sweet Spot

Sometimes trust is the toughest lesson to learn.

Sophie Shaw is days away from signing a contract that will fulfill her dream of owning a vineyard. For her, it’s a chance to restart her life and put past tragedies to rest. But Duncan Jamieson’s counter offer blows hers out to sea.

Duncan still finds Sophie as appealing as he had during boyhood vacations to the lake. Older and wiser now, he has his own reasons for wanting the land. His offer, however, hinges on a zoning change approval.

Bribery rumors threaten the deal and make Sophie wary of Duncan, yet she cannot deny his appeal. When her journalistic research uncovers a Jamieson family secret, trust becomes the hardest lesson for them both.

5 glowing stars!

I love it when a book takes me by surprise and this one did just that... gosh... I loved it! A wonderfully written romance that revolves around mature characters in a small town setting. This one definitely tugged on the heartstrings, especially Sophie's story.
Sophie experiences every mother's worst nightmare, the death of a child. I definitely felt her loss and her pain... the emotions of this character were very real. Her inability to cope with the loss took it's toll on her marriage and now she finds herself divorced and trying to move forward with her life.
Duncan is a successful businessman who lost his wife suddenly due to an illness. He's left with the guilt of not having been the best husband and realizing he hasn't had his priorities in the right place. He decides to move from New York to Blue moon lake, a place that he had fond memories of visiting as a child and where he had his very first childhood crush!
Yes, you guessed it... Sophie was his crush... it was like being a teenager all over again. You're never too old! Nope... there is always time for second chances.
Sophie and Duncan don't get off on the right foot though, seems they both have a very personal interest in purchasing the same piece of land. Sophie wants a vineyard, Duncan wants to build a resort... the town is divided and they are both caught in the middle!
As the battle for this land commences, Sophie and Duncan must learn to trust, take some chances and make some sacrifices. Especially if they want a second chance at love.
Just a great, great story... and, one I highly recommend to fans of small town romance that is light on the steam.
