The Silver Chain by Primula Bond
When I first
cracked the pages of The Silver Chain I was amazed at the beautifully written
words. How well described the surroundings. You really felt immersed in the landscape
of the pages. My first thoughts were just that- “beautifully written.” Sadly that all quickly
changed. The story is one that is pretty common of late. Rich guy with money,
young girl with a talent and naïve.
It was the internal
dialogue that killed it. Just way, way too much. At one point I noticed I had
read a full page of inner dialogue before a word was spoken and by then I had
forgotten what she was answering to. I began to skim read rather than savor.
Serena’s almost ADD thoughts and reactions just didn’t endear her to me. *sigh*
Sometimes less is more.
