UNSTOPPABLE
The third book in The Country Roads series
by Shannon Richard
The hotly-anticipated story of hunky former Air Force sergeant Bennett
Hart and feisty elementary teacher Melanie O’Bryan.
Melanie knows life is too short to be afraid of taking chances, and
said chance, Bennett, is certainly worth the gamble. He's agreed to help
her students with a school project, but she's hoping the handsome
handyman will offer her a whole lot more. But for
Bennett, he’s just grateful to be alive and back home in Mirabelle,
Florida. Peace and quiet is all that he’s looking for until Melanie
walks into his life and turns it upside down. After one smoldering kiss,
Bennett feels like he's falling without a parachute.
Yet, rivaling their budding romance are dark memories of Bennett’s
past, and he'll have to decide whether to play it safe, or take a risk
on the best chance of all: love.
Shannon
Richard grew up in the Florida Panhandle as the baby sister of two
overly protective but loving brothers. She was raised by a more than
somewhat eccentric mother, a self-proclaimed
vocabularist who showed her how to get lost in a book and a father who
passed on his love for coffee and really loud music. She graduated from
Florida State University with a BA in English Literature and still lives
in Tallahassee where she battles everyday
life with writing, reading, and a rant every once in a while. Okay, so
the rants might happen on a regular basis. She's still waiting for her
Southern, scruffy, Mr. Darcy, and in the meantime writes love stories to
indulge her overactive imagination. Oh, and
she's a pretty big fan of the whimsy.

Unstoppable is book three
in the series, but if you haven’t read the rest, it’s perfectly readable
nonetheless. The book starts off with a bang, literally. When Melanie O’Bryan
stumbles into a breaking-and-entering, former Air Force sergeant, Bennet Heart,
jumps to action. We then learn that he spends the next few months helping her
recover and work through therapy. This all takes place in the prologue entitled
‘the calm before the storm’. I really loved the kooky names for all the
chapters, it’s cute and unusual.
From that point on he
helps her with her teacherly duties, and they travel down a pathway to love. It’s
not an easy pathway, as Bennet is still dealing with some issues from his time
spent in Afghanistan, but what they find together makes for a very sweet and
endearing read.
I do find myself wishing
that I had read the previous books, as many of the characters are funny and I
wish I had more of a relationship with them.
All
in all, it is a charming read that warms the heart on a chilly afternoon.
