Book one of this series was really good but this second installment was even better than the first... definitely one of my favorite paranormal romances I've read this year. Must have more Larissa Ione... must have more!
In this book Hunter is preparing to mate the Queen of Hell from the neighboring clan Shadowspawn. And, when I say that... I'm not kidding... Rasha is AWFUL!! No man should have to be saddled with such torture. Hunter is definitely taking one for the team.
The star of this book for me was Aylin... Rasha's twin sister. She was born with a defective leg. This defect was seen as a curse and weakness and she was treated as an outcast in her own clan. She was sent with her sister to serve as a decoy in case of an ambush as they traveled to Moonbound. Having to always live in the shadow of her sister, watching her have all the things she could never have was not an easy life for her. But, she handled it with her head held high and woke up every day doing what she had to do to survive. Things shifted however, when she found herself desiring the man who was to be her sister's mate.
Even though Hunter doesn't trust either of these ladies, he can't help but be drawn to the beautifully flawed Aylin who surprises him with her courage and strength. Watching her character grow, seeing her bloom into a strong woman and feeling desired for the first time in her life was heartwarming. I love seeing an underdog rise to the top! And rise she did...
This series is filled with creative characters and I love the authors use of the Native American heritage as a foundation for the overall story. I can't wait to see where this author takes us in future installments.
All in all an engaging, creative, heartwarming and steamy read that leaves you wanting more... highly recommend to paranormal romance fans!
