The cover blurb says “If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t”.  In my case that was absolutely true. Never have I read a story quite like this. The storyline is unique. I kind of figured out the twist before it was revealed, but that didn’t change the impact of the ending.

It shifts back and forth in time pretty much throughout the whole book. I didn’t really like that very much. It felt somewhat disjointed, and made it hard to really connect with either of these guys. It wasn’t ‘til much later (around 60%) that I really felt a flow. Maybe by then I had gotten used to it?

Having said all that, I was curiously engrossed. It was captivating and thrilling. A few times my stomach did the drop and I was scared for Layanna. My heart broke in a

million pieces for Lee. And Brant? Well, he stole the show.

Black Lies starts out as a rocky read for me, but two days later, I still can’t get it out of my head.

This is a book that is best read without reading too many reviews. It will definitely have more impact if you go in blind and just let the story slowly unfold. Trust me when I say... it's not what you think!
It was very engaging for me up to the 50% mark... soon after, I figured out what was going on and then the story didn't seem to grab me as much. But, it was still good... a unique and twisted love story and one you have to appreciate for it's originality. The author did successfully mess with my head for a while there.
Brante was a very engaging character... mysterious, and easy to love. It was easy to understand how well Layana and Brante fit together.
The entrance of Lee brought in a new level of what the hell?? I really disliked the guy... these type of characters always leave me with a bad taste in my mouth. Her relationship with Lee was all about lust and her need to be treated dirty. I never felt their relationship was ever about love.
Can't really say much else without revealing spoilers... but, even if you don't like the cheating thing I wouldn't pass this one up... seriously... it's not what you think!
Overall, it was a pretty good read and one I would recommend to fans of romantic suspense, erotica and love stories with a twist!

Brant:
Became a tech billionaire by his twentieth birthday. Has been in a relationship with me for 3 years.
Has proposed 4 times. Been rejected 4 times.

Lee:
Cuts grass when he’s not banging housewives. Good with his hands, his mouth, and his cock. Has been pursued relentlessly by me for almost 2 years, whether he knows it or not.

Go ahead. Judge me. You have no idea what my love entails.

If you think you’ve heard this story before, trust me – you haven’t.
