Author Spotlight ~ D.B. Reynolds~

D. B. Reynolds is the RT and EPIC Award-Winning author of the popular Vampires in America series of Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy, and an Emmy-nominated television sound editor. She holds graduate degrees in international relations and history from UCLA, and was headed for a career in academia when, in a moment of clarity, she left behind the politics of the hallowed halls for the better paying politics of Hollywood. In addition to her two Emmy nominations, D.B. was awarded an MPSE (Motion Picture Sound Editors) Golden Reel and multiple MPSE nominations for her work in television sound.

She lives in a flammable canyon near Los Angeles, and when she’s not writing her own books, she can usually be found reading someone else’s. Visit her blog at www.dbreynolds.com for details on all her books, for free stories and more.

A Q & A with D.B. Reynolds

When did you know writing was what you wanted/needed to do?

I knew in high school that I wanted to write, but it wasn’t until much later that I had the freedom to pursue my dream.

Favorite movie/television programs?

Anyone who follows my blog knows that my all-time favorite television program is Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Whenever I’m in full writing mode, Buffy is invariably muted on my TV screen, keeping me company. And whenever a favorite scene comes up, I unmute and live it all over again. As for movies, I prefer action/adventure films with lots of noise and kickass action. There has to be a cohesive story going on, too, however. Two recent examples of my favorite movies are Wonder Woman (fabulous!) and John Wick. Both of those have tremendous action sequences, but they also have a lot of heart and soul.

Top five reads?

I have a Favorites folder on my Kindle, but I also have print copies of all those books, so when the zombie apocalypse strikes, and we have no electricity, I’ll still have something to read. There are many more than five books in that folder, but here’s a sample—I’ve read all of these books multiple times.

Thread of Fear by Laura Griffin
The Rhea Lynch, MD series (4 books) by Gwen Hunter
Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh
Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley

Will you be attending any signings or conventions? Where and when?

I’ll be at the Emerald City Writer’s Conference in Bellevue, WA, October 12-15, 2017. I’m wait listed for their Passport to Romance event, which is open to the public. I hope to clear the wait list, but if I don’t I’ll be arranging a separate event for any of my readers who want to meet me for questions or book signings. In 2018, I’ll be attending the RT Booklovers Convention in Reno, NV, May 15-20, 2018, and the RWA Romance Writers of American Conference in Denver, CO, July 25-28, 2018. Both of those cons include public signing events as part of their activities.
