Excerpt:
“I’m sorry you have to go through this alone.” “Thank you for saying that.” She blinked quickly, and she heard a rustle of blankets. Her mind detoured into a very unprofessional space. “Did you just get into bed?” He laughed quietly. “Yeah. Are you?” “Yeah.” There was something illicit in that simple agreement. Illicit and enticing all at once. “So we’re in bed together?” “Ha ha ha.” She cleared her throat, though, as a fresh heat traced over her skin, warm and needy. “Tell me more about Kearney.” “Damn, and here I thought you were going to ask me what I was wearing to bed.” She hesitated. Only for a moment, not giving herself time to talk herself out of her next words. “What are you wearing to bed?” A silence that let her mind wander. “Sweats.” He paused. When he spoke, his voice was husky and thick. “Tell me what you’re wearing.” “Yoga pants and a T-shirt,” she said softly, her cheeks turning hot. Was she really having this conversation? “Sarah?” “Yeah?” “This doesn’t feel wrong to me. I just wanted you to know that.”

The first few chapters are what did it for me as a reader/reviewer. Clever premise. Smart characters. Interesting yet funny banter and a volley of dialogue that just makes you smile. Snag a copy for a fun afternoon read! ~Tanja Dylan Rhodes. Up-and-coming lawyer. Media darling. And an unapologetic player who treats women like tea bags—gets them wet, then tosses them out. Everything about this man warns me not to trust him. Tells me to kick his breath-taking body to the curb. Get him out of my study. But I need the data for my college thesis. And he’s the perfect man to prove that the dating mind-tricks I’m testing, work. At least we’re on the same page about one thing: neither of us is looking for a relationship. By the time I figure out why he keeps showing up—even though I

BLACKTOP WASTELAND by S.A. Cosby

He knows how to make an ordinary American car something that flies, something that, under his hands on the wheel, can take its driver places. He came to that knowledge through heritage, love and the lure of dangerous getaways. But he is in a town that has no call for those skills. He’s got a repair shop that is floundering, a wife and two sons, a daughter from an earlier time, and the car he inherited from his father, a Plymouth Duster. Late at night, when he races the car ten miles out from the fairgrounds in the back road illegal races, he feels most like himself. He feels reconnected to the part of him that has no part in this other life he knows he needs to live for the people he loves. It’s always there though, just below the surface, that desire for one more getaway drive, one more adrenaline boosting race against the cops. BLACKTOP WASTELAND (Flati
