Dirty Angels (Dirty Angels #1) by Karina Halle
Okay,
right off I feel the need to give Dirty Angels two different star ratings. One
for those who have read the Sins & Needles series and LOVES Javier, and one
for those who haven’t.
For
those that haven’t – Four stars
It’s
bad boy redemption kind of read. The victim becomes enamored and the capture becomes
the lover. It’s a lovely, dark kind of Stockholm syndrome.
For
those that have – 3 Stars
What
the hell did you do to my Javier? I spent the first 75% of the book with a
perpetual ‘HUH?’ look on my face. Honestly,
after all the hype I expected it to be much darker, and the defeatist attitude had
me confused. Where is my villain I love to hate? Self assuredness and wicked
humor were his greatest traits. However, we do get him back in the final 25%.

There is drug use, abuse, a bit of torture and dubious consent. The hero is not a hero and the villains...well, they're even worse. If this sort of thing bothers you, PLEASE DO NOT READ IT. This ain't no cupcake farting unicorn kind of book. If you are even a bit squeamish about violence, brutality and rape, this is your warning to stay away from a book that you certainly will not like (and why read books that you know you won't like?)***
