This is the second book that I have read of The Raines of Wind Canyon series... I came in at book 8... Against the Edge. I loved that one so couldn't wait to get my hands on book 9 when the ARC came available. There are a couple of things that always get my stamp of approval. First of all, I love it when authors create a series in which it is possible to read any of the books in the series as stand alones. Even though I started at book 8... I find that these books are very easily read and enjoyed by themselves. And, so far, the male characters in this series represent everything that I personally enjoy... they are strong, tough, romantic and 100% devoted to the women they love. And, in this book we have an ex-marine... swoon! My favorite type of hero... I do hope I can find time to go back and read more books in this series.
So, our romance in the making in this book is between Haley and Tyler. Haley's father died in an explosion and there are suspicions that it was no accident. Tyler, our hunky ex-marine, is now a private investigator and is hired to help Haley find out the truth. As Haley and Ty are working together they get more than they bargained for as the evidence begins to unfold and the truth behind her father's death is slowly revealed. As their attraction for each other grows so does the danger surrounding them.
There is plenty of action, romance and mystery in this installment... sure to please devoted followers to this series and perhaps find some new ones... like ME!! I'll be looking for book 10... Against the Wild.
