Sugar Pine Trail by RaeAnne Thayne

Sugar Pine Trail is my first encounter with the works of author RaeAnne Thayne. What I found was an incredibly sweet kind of read filled with heart achingly soul-warming characters.

Iā€™m also pleased with the fact that these characters are a bit older and more focused on the reality of life and the conditions of it. Librarian, Julia Winston, is beautifully written as a woman with a sense of responsibility, yet an underlying desire to break out of the box she has put herself in. She is a warm and delicate lady with a feisty side that makes her so likable.

Juliaā€™s new upstairs renter, Jamie Caine, really doesnā€™t know what to think of the antique covered apartment heā€™ll be living in for the next few months. He does find the plain Jane landlord a bit fascinating thoughā€” Okay, I know what youā€™re thinkingā€” the plain Jane girl becomes beautiful after guy sees what she looks like on the inside or that under all those clothes she is a rocking sex bomb and now heā€™s ensnared. NO. There are so many outside subplots to keep you reading and very little sexy time. Itā€™s a nice change of pace for me as a reader/reviewer.

All I can say is that this was a wonderful ride with funny town folk, good hearted people, and a beautiful sense of community wrapped in a love story.

A great holiday read.
