When you read a book by Claudia Connor you are definitely getting something a little bit different than in most traditional romances. Yes, you are getting a love story between two people with all of the bells and whistles. But, it goes beyond the couple in her books. And, you find yourself falling in love not only with them, but with the children, the brothers, the sisters, the in-laws, the out-laws... yep, you fall in love with the whole gang!
This installment of the series was particularly touching and yes, I was reaching for the Kleenex a few times, because the little girl in this book absolutely stole my heart. And, she also stole the heart of JT which made me swoon. I love a man who can not only open his heart to a single mom but fall in love with her child at the same time. It was a beautiful, heartfelt romance that takes us beyond the couple to consider how far the spirals of love can reach. It wasn't just the start of a relationship, but the start of a family.
JT and Paige both have a past that has been the catalyst for all of their decision making. Paige is desperate to give her daughter a better life than she had. JT is running from a haunted past that he has allowed to define him. Together they were able to break down the walls of fear and doubt and take new steps towards new dreams and finally allow themselves to love.
I loved the way the author blended these two together. They both completed the holes in each other in a way that finally made them feel complete. I loved the very personal connection JT had with her daughter because of their shared disability. And, I loved the message that this story conveys that family is not always about sharing blood, it's about showing love and being willing to step up and be there for someone when no one else will.
If you are a fan of stories in which big men are brought to their knees by little girls armed with fingernail polish and boxes of crayons then you definitely need to add this series and this book to your to read pile. This series brings so much more to the table than just an ordinary love story. It's not just about couples getting together... it's about family! I love, love, love it... :)
