Take Me Back by Kelli Maine
If you haven't read Taken, No Take Backs and Taken by Storm then this short novella may not make sense to you... I guess you might be able to read it as a stand alone but it is a continuation of this series. And, if you're following this series you kind of need to read the novellas or you will be a bit behind on the plot. I realized I had missed the novella that came out after Taken... so I was left filling in some blanks when I was reading Taken by Storm. I really think that the novellas should be tacked onto the ends of Book one and Book two... a little annoying to have to pay for a "piece" of a book this short.
So, it's about 100 pages and picks up just where we left off in Taken by Storm. Rachael becomes obsessed with the ghost of Ingrid and helping to solve why she is haunting the plantation. This causes problems with her relationship with Merrick because he feels she is acting irrational. I found that amusing... Merrick wouldn't know anything about acting irrational right??? (giggle) I also found it very amusing that Rachael got mad at Merrick and so she packed a bag and went to sleep in the "tree house"... are we 16 Rachael... LOL. Anyway, that's about all I can say without revealing too much of the plot.
I will say though that I was disappointed that we experienced the same awkward POV writing style as book one. I liked the writing style of book two so much more. And, I wanted more from the ghost story element... it was kind of short and sweet. Kind of a wasted opportunity... I think I am done with this series if there is more to come. I did give it a fair shot but enough is enough!
