Rapture's Edge by J.T. Geissinger (Night Prowler #3)

I picked this up off of netgalley and then realized it was book three of a series... so, I did what any devoted reviewer must and went back to read the first two installments before diving into this one. And, I am so glad that I did because this series just keeps getting better and I definitely would have been a little lost if I hadn't. Book one was a nice start but book two and three of this series is where this author really got my attention. And, there is so much I like about it that it's hard to know where to begin... so here goes nothing.
First of all, this is a very unique shifter world. The Ikati are panther shifters but individually each Ikati can also be born with additional gifts. It's the surprise gifts that some of them have that add an element of intrigue because you're never really sure what is going to happen. Leander and Jenna were the focus of book one, Morgan and Xander in book two and in book three we are introduced more intimately with Demetrius and Eliana. Eliana is no longer the pampered princess we met in book two. She is strong, fierce and powerfully gifted in ways she never knew and she is driven by a need for revenge and to continue her father's work. She's resorted to a life as a cat burglar to help raise money to feed her followers and fund the continuation of those plans. She is also for the first time able to get close to the human population and she likes it and longs for a time when humans and Ikati can co-exist. What Eliana doesn't know is that nothing is as it seems to be and as the truth begins to unfold she finds herself in a position of no longer being able to trust those around her... including Demetrius whom she loves, fears and hates all at the same time. She is surrounded by lies and betrayal.
The Ikati are becoming a restless race... in particular the female Ikati. They are tired of being hidden and having their lives controlled by the Alphas and the council. In this book we start to see the new Queen show her stuff... and ya' know... I get the feeling that change is a comin' and the panther boys ain't gonna' like it. BUT, if there was ever a world in need of a female revolution it's definitely this one! Where are my pom-poms??? I'll be cheering them on for sure.
The end of this book took me by surprise... and I can't say too much without revealing spoilers but it definitely left me wanting more. All I will say is that after the shocking events that occur nothing will be the same again in the human world or the Ikati. And the villain is not exactly who or what we thought it would be... I was quite surprised by the turn of events. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book because I need to know what happens next!
If you are a fan of shifter series and you like action, suspense and steamy romance... this one is a winner!

Book 3 in this incredible series is a thrill ride not to
miss. So many things have happened and so many ends are tied and untied.
Breathless is a way to describe how I felt at times reading this installment. I
am not going into too much story detail as I feel spoiler abound if I do.
Elaina again not knowing who to trust in this amazing
world struggles. Demetrius…… sigh. That’s all I can say. Just sigh. I am left at the end of Rapture’s
Edge so surprised and chomping at the bit for the next book to come out!
Such a good series to get lost in.
