Tee is Vegas’s
favorite casino hostess, ready to grant her high rollers their every quirky
wish. But when her own wish to financially help her Paiute Tribe finally comes
true, she decides to double-down with lady luck and go for a hot hook-up with
her sexy boss, Leo. Unfortunately, Tee’s about to find out why their romance is
such a long shot—Leo is a shape-shifting dragon.
Leo needs a proper
dragon mate to save his waning dragon form, and despite their magnetic sexual
attraction, he knows Tee is anything but proper—or a dragon. But when threats
arise from Tee's tribe, Leo’s protective instincts kick in. Can he give up his dragon
form for the woman he loves—even if it means shortening his life? Or has Tee
finally had enough of having her heart dragged around?
5 stars*****
This is book two in this lovely dragon shifter series... but can easily be read as a stand alone! Even though I really liked book one, I do believe that book two is my personal favorite. It's not hard to explain why... Leo, our dragon love interest was a walking twin of my favorite hottie... Thor (Chris Hemsworth). Because I had the image of him in my head through the whole book, well... smiles and happiness... all the way! :)
Book one centered around a female jewel thief and in book two the author takes us down a completely different route by using Tee and her native American heritage as the focus. I really liked this plot... and I loved Tee and her dedication to helping out the children on the reservation.
The one thing I do like about this series is the idea of dragons finding a clever way to mask themselves in the center of Las Vegas! Anything goes in Las Vegas... and it's a fun setting to play around with.
The male dragons are always on the hunt for their true mates. If they do not find their mate, then they lose their ability to shift to dragon form and eventually die. Even if they find their mate, she has to accept the mate bond of her own free will. So, the dragons have to be on their best behavior!
Tee and Leo were a great match... they had amazing chemistry together both as lovers and friends. It was easy to root for their HEA.
This is a shorter book than most at around 200 pages... so, a nice choice if you're looking for something you can start and finish in a day.
I am a fan of this series and will definitely be on board for book three which I think will involve a Russian Ice Dragon... hhhmmmm... that could be fun! :)

Serial Blog Tour: Stop One!!
Any SJP fans out
there?
We Gen-XYers don’t
even pause—hell yeah! The bad dating of my twenties seemed benign compared to
the antics of Sarah Jessica Parker and her posse on Sex and The City. When I
saw Sarah had done a “zippy-fun” 5 minute video
interview with Vogue answering 73 questions, I was intrigued. 73 questions, in
5 minutes! (No, don’t go google it now! I’ll give you the link at the bottom)
The first time
through the video, I was charmed and entertained. The second time, I felt the
challenge of rapid-fire repartee calling my name... I wonder how I would answer
all those questions?
Drum roll please….
For your snappy
reading pleasure, I transcribed the questions and broke them into serial blog
posts for my release tour. Many thanks to KT for hosting my 1st segment!
Let’s do this thing!
Q1: Favorite Movie?
A: The Italian Job,
Thomas Crowne Affair.
I love heist movies,
bonus points for a happily ever after! The Bourne Identity movies and some of
the Bond movies would be right up there too.
Q2: Favorite recent
movie?
A: Pitch Perfect.
This is my go-to
diversion movie, and my kids loved it too! I’m not a repeat movie watcher, but
I bet I’ve seen it 5 times!
Q3: Favorite
Hitchcock movie?
A: None.
I hate scary movies.
I can’t even do the movie trailers, like that “Mama” trailer they have out now
is the worst! The last scary movie I watched was the Blair Witch Project. OMG.
My husband and I took a camping trip afterward, and I was up ALL night, hearing
things go bump in the dark.
Q4: Favorite TV show
currently on?
A: Orphan Black,
close second Blacklist.
If you haven’t seen
the BBC’s Orphan Black – it is amazing. Tatiana Maslany portrays 11 crazy, diverse clones. She won a
golden globe and critics choice award and she so deserved it. A great Femme
Fatal like show with a hottie love interest .
Q5: Book I plan on
reading?
A: Night Child, Lisa
Kessler
Lisa is my imprint
sistah and we share a release birthday today. One of my Street Team members
told me NC was the perfect story, and the ending made her cry. Ahhh, can’t
wait!
Q6: Book read in
school that shaped you?
Crime and
Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoyevsky.
I read C&P when
I was 16 years old. I had just left my rural home on a full scholarship to
Phillips Exeter Academy. At Exeter, I didn’t fit in. My clothes were wrong. My
southern accent branded me a not-very-smart peasant. A boy broke my heart and
gave me Mono. I wasn’t at all prepared for the rigorous academic requirements.
I was miserable. I remember looking at a huge snow bank and thinking I could
just fall in and go to sleep forever. It was a very bleak and difficult time in
my young life.
I was assigned
C&P around that time. At first, I had to force myself to stop every few
pages and say out loud what had just occurred, otherwise my eyes just drifted
over the pages, and I remembered nothing. I was sick, and exhausted, and
furious. Soon I started identifying with the morally ambiguous Rodion. I’d
always been a bit of a goody-two-shoes at home. Rodion’s schemes and world view
were delightfully tainted and ultimately mind broadening.
I still keep a
Dostoyevsky quote in my Bible:
“Above all, don't
lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes
to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and
so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases
to love.” (BroKar)
Q7: Book you read
you never think about?
A: The Odyssey,
Homer
Q8: Scale of 1-10
how excited about life are you now?
A: 9. I recently
turned 40 years old. I love 40!
How about you? I
challenge you to pick 1 question from above and answer it in the comments. As a
bonus, I’ll give a free kindle copy (one per person) of my new release STOP
DRAGON MY HEART AROUND to 1 randomly picked answerer.
You know you want to
try!

PS> Here is the
SJP Vogue Interview I promised (link-- http://video.vogue.com/watch/vogue-diaries-73-questions-with-sarah-jessica-parker
)
“I told you we’d see
celebrities here!” Trixie exclaimed and squeezed the brunette woman’s bare arm.
“Celebrities?” Tee
asked in confusion.
“It’s that hotty
superhero with the hammer.” Angie pointed at Leo. Her mouth hung open to show a
brass tongue piercing.
“Thor,” Trixie
whispered and smacked her gum again. “I bet he has a big ole hammer too.”
Beside her, Leo
smiled and shrugged, like he had some super hero secret he couldn’t share.
Ridiculous.
“This is not Thor,”
Tee said with an uncomfortable laugh. Next to the diminutive young women, she
felt gawky. She straightened her stooping shoulders and stretched to her full
height. Then, she gave the two a smile she hoped conveyed patient helpfulness.
Leo was tall, even
taller than her, with blondish hair that brushed his shirt collar. His eyes
were deep set like the actor’s, and he definitely had the forearms and muscle
packed in all the hunky places. But he was so much more than some
hammer-throwing cartoon.
He was Leo. He was
real, and she’d wanted him from the first moment he’d walked toward her across
the Bellagio foyer. Then he’d smiled at her, and her heart had done a
ridiculous loop-de-loop and she’d been lost.

Thank you so much for starting my blog tour off with a bang!
ReplyDeleteI love being first! LOL... happy touring... :)
Delete:D Love finding out all these cool things about you Susannah! You will love Night Child. I finished it at about 1:30 this morning (after my review posting spree lol) and it was so damned good. I've read the whole series though and you may need to read it all to really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteQ6: Book read in school that shaped you?
For me this took a lot of thought because I loved everything we read with few exceptions. Even The Odyssey left some interesting marks on me. Ultimately the one I realized really shaped me was Romeo & Juliet. It sounds stupid but it wasn't the story so much as my experience with it. We read aloud many parts in our class and I remember this on popular guy who was reading as Romeo basically volunteering ME to read Juliet. I was so shy and frightened it was some kind of joke (and secretly I really wanted to do it) and when we read it was ...liberating on a level. I was able to shuck the mantle of the poor girl who didn't have nice clothes, that was shy but smart, and put myself in the mind of Juliet (I also later read as Romeo in the death scene). A few years ago I found out that guy that volunteered me to read is now an actor who's been in a few shows I like and even one of the POTC movies.
Rhi that is so awesome! Love the R&J story :) S
