How can they have a future when their past is based on a lie?

The perfect preacher’s daughter, Verity Fairchild, has something that only she and God know about and she wants to keep it that way. Her mistake was easy to keep secret when she was out of town, but now that she's come back to Hope Parish for the summer, she comes face-to-face with the guy responsible for it all. Boone Outlaw nearly ruined everything for her and despite the fact that he's now working at her father's church, she's determined to stay as far away from him as possible.

Boone Outlaw doesn't understand Verity's anger towards him. He barely knows her. In high school she was Holy Mary Verity and she was off limits - except in his dreams where Verity seems way too real. Most of the time he was wasted in high school, not the type of boy Verity would ever look at twice, but he can’t shake the feeling that something might have happened between them. He’s going to break his own rules to get the answers he needs straight from Verity.

What will Verity do when she finds something in Boone that she never knew existed and her perfect mistake is the only thing that could stand between them and their happiness? Will she sacrifice Boone to keep her secret?

Author’s Favorite Quotes from A Perfect Mistake

“Does that make you feel better?” he taunted, crowding me. Placing his mouth close to my ear, he rasped, sending tingles into my bloodstream to whirl and agitate. “We’re in a church, so maybe I should turn the other cheek so you can slap that one, too, but no amount of pounding on me is going to change the fact that you are a liar.” He whispered the last word like a sweet nothing.

Zoe: I love this quote because it shows you how involved Boone and Verity already are.
___

“You want honesty, Boone? How about this for honesty? I would have been better off if I had never laid eyes on you. Never gone to that graduation party. It was a mistake!”

Zoe: This sums up Verity’s feelings about what happened that night, but what I love about the quote is that Boone’s about to prove her so very wrong.
___

“I see you in my dreams,” he whispered unsteadily, absently, more like he was talking out loud then he was talking to me. “Why are you in my dreams, Verity?”

Zoe: This quote is about Boone’s confusion about what happened that long ago night. It shows his vulnerability. What I love about Boone is that he can maintain his tough guy persona, even when he’s being a softie.
___

“Oh, Boone. I’m so sorry. We’ve both been discounted in our lives. That’s something we have in common.”

Zoe: This quote sums up nicely what Boone and Verity have to overcome and get past in their lives. They have that in common.
___

“What’s not right?! The fact that Boone’s an Outlaw? How would it look for the preacher’s daughter to even talk to him? Oh, God. It’s the end of the world! I’m so done with this.”

Zoe: This quote shows how Verity is starting to stand up for herself and what she really thinks instead of caving into her father’s wishes that she be the perfect preacher’s daughter.
