K's Review of Killing His Fear

I have to admit that I was a little worried about reading a book about a serial killer. But, I was pleasantly surprised that it was a much easier read than I thought it would be.
Brandon developed a fear of the dark that began in his childhood when he watched a scary movie on television. That night he had a nightmare but was quickly comforted by his father. Years later after his father died his fears came back and he developed an intense fear of the dark. He became obsessed with horror movies and worked night jobs as a coping mechanism. After being fired from his job and in a fit of anger he killed a rat that startled him on his way home. He found that killing somehow cured him of his fear. This led to a string of "accidental" killings. Brandon never really set out to kill anyone but his emotions and need to cure his fear would take over his control.
The sad part of this story was that Brandon really did have a conscience about his actions. He wanted to stop but the voices and fears continued to haunt him. All he wanted was to be happy and live a normal life.
It was interesting watching how the police slowly pieced together the clues and for the most part Brandon was just a normal likable guy. No one could have anticipated the outcome that occurred at the end of the book!
All in all this was a very easy and entertaining read and I would recommend this book to those who are looking for a light dose of serial killer action. That's me all day long... you know... so I don't develop a fear of the dark....

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review.
