The Accidental Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer, #1) by Angie Fox

When I received The Accidental Demon Slayer through Netgalley I hadn’t heard of this series. But with the cute and quirky cover and write up I thought why not give it a go.

Well not only is the cover cute and quirky so is the story itself. Lizzie is a thirty year old pre-school teacher with a very orderly life and a solid idea of where she is going. Until she finds herself locked in her bathroom with a crazy hog riding geriatric claiming to be her grandmother saying she is trying to help her. By locking her in a bathroom? Yeah right lady somebody call the cops. Lizzie thinks that until her body starts to betray her and her hands start to melt the only thing holding her up, the sink, then she turns to find a monster perched on the toilet. But have no fear Lizzie he only wants to kill you.

After Lizzie rectifies the monster on the toilet issue somebody keeps talking….. no…..yes…..no….
The dog. Yep Lizzie’s cute and tenacious Jack Russell can talk. Apparently he always could it’s just now after her transition Lizzie can her him.

And what is that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? NO! It’s a griffin! Well hello sexy shape shifter griffin Dimitri!

And thus begins the journey of a Demon hunter who was adopted and never knew her real family. Her buttoned up life is turned upside down and inside out as she has to learn how to use her extremely rare and very powerful abilities. We meet geriatric witches, crazy were-wolf shifters and a host of demons.

To be honest in the first few chapters I was meh about the Accidental Demon Slayer but by the time I finished I am ready for book two. I am pulled in and invested. Exactly what a good book does. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not earth shattering but it’s definitely a good read with characters that are well meaning and sweet.

A solid 3.5 STARS
