3fdf4-hard2bball2bebook2bcoverOne of the most compelling reads I have experienced from CD Reiss. I began the read I was embarking on with a set impression that I had formed from Reiss’s previous works. What really took me aback was the overall sweetness of this read; I was in love with both Dash and Vivian.

Vivian works as a librarian and currently lives with her aging father. She meets baseball player Dash during a field trip with a group of kids. Events transpire and she finds herself with Dash’s digits and a mission to recover a stolen glove.

What she didn’t even begin to expect was that he was a layered kind of guy: one who reads and memorizes sonnets, and who has discovered that he likes the back-and-forth with the smart and well-read librarian.

What really made this book for me was the revelation in Dash. He suffers from a common disorder and the sheer mental and emotional chaos that goes on in his mind is compelling as well as captivating. It’s portrayed as I have never seen it written before. I suspect that Reiss has a real grasp of this disorder. Surely she must. I found myself rereading his POV multiple times to form an understanding of what many must endure as a regular thought pattern. I feel like it takes a strong writer to pull this off in such a caring and profound way.

As for the coupling, it’s a brilliant combination of Vivian’s road to self-discovery, Dash’s superstitions, and their unbelievable connection to each other.

5 STARS for a book that deviates from the norm and is a beautifully written book that not only titillates, but also inspires and educates.

Synopsis:

Perfect ass. Perfect arms. Perfect swagger.   They call Dash Wallace the Diamond King. He’s the hottest commodity in baseball and in the bedroom. When he runs the bases, every woman’s eyes are glued to his stunning body and a smile that puts the night lights to shame. I’m no queen. I’m a regular girl with a regular job. I just watch him on TV and from the bleachers, season after season.   Girls like me grab a guy like that one in a million times. My number just came up, and he is as spectacular in bed as he is on the field. But there’s not a woman in the world who can distract Dash Wallace from the game. Not for a moment. Not even me. Until the night I do. And everything changes.

About the Author:

89275-cd2breiss2bprofile
CD Reiss is a USA Today bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn't pick up she's at the well hauling buckets. Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master's degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels. She's frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn't ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood. If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
