Avoiding love is hard. Catching a killer can be fatal…

When Rob’s sister passed away, she left him her dog and her house. He can handle the dog part, but he doesn’t need another home. Especially a fixer-upper the neighbor swears is haunted.

Then he meets Bridget, who’s working on getting her life back together after a car accident left her scarred in more ways than one. She can’t pass up Rob’s offer of free lodging, regardless of the shape it’s in. Or the roommate that’s part of the package. She’s never believed in ghosts, but now she’s living with one who wants Bridget’s help in catching a killer. There’s only one problem: the killer has unfinished business…

This was such an entertaining story... I found myself falling in love with Rob a little bit. How can you not love a man who cries because he loves his dog and screams because he's scared of snakes?? Yep... the man of my dreams!
Rob's sister passed away but she has "unfinished business" and now she's a ghost hanging out in the house where she died. Rob offers to allow Bridget to stay in the home as a house sitter while he makes repairs. Bridget was in a terrible accident in which she was in a coma... she recovered but now has emotional and physical scars and she's having trouble moving on... oh, and now she has a strange gift that allows her to see ghosts! Add that to her helicopter hovering mom and an opportunity to move into Rob's house while she continues to recuperate is a welcome change. Except for the part where she meets his sister Charlie.
I loved Charlie and her ghost character was written so well. Her relationship with Bridget throughout the book was so entertaining. If you're going to be haunted by a ghost... she's who you want. She's not just a ghost, she's your best friend and she's quite the clever one.
There is also the mother daughter connection... I am always a sucker for mom's and their relationships with their daughters in stories. Even though mom hovers, if you are a mom, you get it! It's a mother's worse fear to almost lose their child. She's obsessed with protecting her...
This story is very engaging and entertaining from beginning to end... and, even though we've seen these type stories before... it's still original and fun because it's written so well.
My only annoyance with the book is the overuse of the expression "Hell's Belle's"... it was cute at first but got old after a while... and Bridget being bullheaded was a bit extreme. But, those are small complaints compared to the overall story. I will definitely be continuing with this series.
