Cross & Crown (Sidewinder #2) by Abigail Roux
The
boys are together again for a little reconnection time. Nick and Kelly thought
it would be filled with snuggle time and a bit of site seeing…..yeah well, you
know this is a Sidewinder book right? HA!
I
cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this ride of a read. Bullets fly and a
witness is the key. It was an action filled mystery with some old friends/spies
thrown in. The case Nick was working on was a great American treasure hunt - colonial
style. The clues, twists and turns keep you so invested that it’s hard to put Cross & Crown down.
Kelly
gets a little look into O’Flaherty’s past and a big look into his present. And
the relationship between these two - no angst, no drama, just a connection
built on years of trust and understanding. It is a comfortable and believable
pairing that I think will keep getting better as the series continues. Their
relationship is even more understandable when Nick’s treatment of Kelly is
called into question. Kelly is quick to school you on what they have, and let
there be no mistake, it is a communication all their own.
I
am excited for the journey to continue in the sidewinder series, especially
with the connection to the Cut & Run.
Roux just keeps getting better and better with her boys.

When
Nick O'Flaherty arrives at the scene of a double homicide to find he has a
witness to the crime, he thinks it’s his lucky day. But when he realizes his
witness is suffering from amnesia and can’t even remember his own name, Nick
wishes he’d gone with his gut and put in for vacation time.
Then Nick’s boyfriend and former Recon teammate, Kelly Abbott, joins him in Boston, and Nick finds his hands a little too full as the case and his personal life collide. The witness he’s dubbed “JD” is being tailed by Julian Cross, a retired CIA hitman. To complicate matters further, JD forms an attachment to Nick that Nick struggles not to respond to as they search for the key to JD’s identity.
Trying to determine whether JD is friend or foe as they investigate the crime puts them on the trail of a much older mystery. When multiple attempts are made on their lives, Nick is forced to turn to old enemies and new allies to solve a centuries-old crime before he and Kelly get added to the history books.
