*The Will (Magdalene Series #1) by Kristen Ashley
The Will read like what a warm sea breeze
feels like. You turn your face up to the sun, close your eyes and just breathe
it in. It’s not a book to rush through, it’s more to savor. The Will is a
throwback to the original writing style of KA. It felt as if she took her time
and fleshed out her characters in such an endearing way. Each of Jake’s kids
was very much a part of the story, not a side note or after thought, essential
to the storyline in every way. Yes, it’s a love story but it is also so much
more than that. It’s about family, connection and love. Doing what’s right not
only for yourselves but for those younger and more inexperienced around you.
It’s a story about teaching others how to love more and
sharing it.
Josephine is a quirky, smart, classy lady. Stunted and a bit closed off when it comes to understanding the male species. She has a methodical way of thinking and is somewhat clueless at times when trying to understand others.
Jake has made some horrible choices in women. He has three kids from two mothers and a third wife that didn’t make the cut after all either. He himself isn’t a bad guy; on the contrary he’s a great catch. If you can look past his not so popular business, and bad choices in women.
This coupling is masterminded from beyond the grave. Lydia was Josephine’s grandmother and a friend to Jake and his little tribe. She saw a possibility in these two and ran with it. Lydia leaves in her will a trust for Jakes kids and her klutzy granddaughter Josie. Can you really leave a person to someone? A bit unorthodox, but cute and sweet none the less.
Josie learns she doesn't have to be alone in this world and Jake learns what real love is all about. Together they teach each other to be better. And isn't that what we all want?
I really liked The Will and think it could turn out to be one of the best beach reads of the summer. So grab your sunglasses and hat, turn your face to the sun, breathe deep and dive in.

Early
in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one
person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of
necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to
keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the
fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.
While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.
But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.
Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.
