If You Leave (Beautifully Broken #2) by Courtney Cole

ARC given via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. When I requested If You Leave I didn’t realize it was a book two in the series. You do not have to read book one to get the message within. This is one of the most honest and thoughtful looks at the inner struggle of a soldier battling PTSD. In the cover write up below it says that Gabriel needs someone to help him heal but what I found so true is that ultimately this is a struggle that you have to battle inside yourself. In doing that you may have to remove yourself from those that love you the most to get the help you need.

If you leave begins with a lust to forget both Maddy and Gabriels current and past life drama and just live for one brief moment. Sexual chemistry is hot and fast. But the build up to their relationship is what really draws you in. I love a good flirt and some sassy banter.

I actually shed some tears while reading and honestly that hasn’t happened to me in awhile.

From the cover.........
26-year old Gabriel Vincent is a badass hero. Or he used to be, anyway. As an ex-Army Ranger, Gabe never thought he needed anyone. But after one horrible night in Afghanistan scars him in a way that he can't get past, he needs someone who can help him heal...even if he doesn't realize it.

25-year old Madison Hill doesn't need anybody...or so she thinks. She grew up watching her parents' messed-up abusive relationship and she knows there's no way in hell that she's ever letting that happen to her.

They don't know it in the beginning, but Gabriel and Madison will soon develop a weakness: Each other.

But Gabriel's got a secret, a hidden monster that he's afraid Maddy could never overcome... And Maddy's got issues that she's afraid Gabe will never understand. They quickly realize that they need each other to be whole, but at the same time they know that they've got demons to fight.

And the problem with demons is that they never die quietly

  1. The first, If You Stay, has been my favorite New Adult book recently. I'm super excited that the next one (even with different characters) is just as good!
