Damaged by H.M. Ward

Damaged begins with college student Sidney walking into a restaurant looking for a blind date. She circles the restaurant and ends up sitting down with, in her opinion, a rather nice looking charismatic man. ((Screeching car noises)) wrong table, wrong man

It is very apparent that Sidney is recovering from abuse by a former boyfriend. The anxiety she feels around men that touch or come close to her can be overwhelming. But for whatever reason the wrong guy from the wrong table doesn’t have that affect on her. The opposite in fact.

After a bungled attempt with her real date Sidney find herself in the parking lot and OH NO, look who it is having car troubles! Yep, the wrong guy from the wrong table. Can I help you? (sly smile) Well what’s a girl to do other than offer said guy a ride home.

Wrong guy turns out to be kinda the right guy when he invites her inside for coffee and a little dinner after her non-dinner with the bad date….. Now here is where I had a mini issue with the storyline. So you are going on a date to get over your anxiety and fears of traumatic abuse. You freak out over bad date and now end up almost doing the deed with a guy ya just met……oh wait, its insta love/connection time again. Why is this so over done of late? Any way moving on…..

Peter (kinda right guy) turns her down, pulls the breaks and shows Sidney the door. No worries, Peter turns out to be her new college professor! YAY! I mean NO! Well hell, now it’s all forbidden love and hiding out. No one wants to lose a job over this almost relationship. So a friendship of sorts begins with lots of lusty eye contact and almost kisses. Sidney starts to open up about her past and of course Peter has trauma in his as well.

Things are going all pretty well till Sam and Dean show up. (Wait what?! I KNOW! All my Supernatural fans get this joke) that would be the brother and the ex-boyfriend. Mayhem ensues and we are pretty much left waiting for book two to see where all this goes. Did I mention they haven’t even had sex yet? Not that it’s a bad thing. Kind of refreshing in a way.

Damaged has been out for awhile so I hope you don’t mind the “book report” style review. I will say, something about this book and the writing style pulls you in. I will definitely be reading the next book Damaged 2.

From the cover…….

Life sucks. And, as soon as Sidney picks up the pieces something always knocks her back onto her butt. It's never pretty, but this time is different. This time pretty isn't even the right word.

Peter is the personification of perfection. It's like he fell off his angel perch in purgatory, because let's face it--any guy that hot has got to be naughty. He was probably sent here to ruin her life.

Peter is beyond beautiful with his sexy blue eyes, dark hair, and toned body. Add in his charming wit and Peter is everything Sidney ever wanted in a man, but when things get hot and heavy Peter shows her the door. Sidney takes the walk of shame and leaves. It's the end of the worst blind date ever. Her life couldn't possibly reach higher levels of suckage, but it does.

The next morning everything comes crashing down. The insanely hot guy from last night, the one that saw her half naked, is teaching at the front of the class room.

Damaged 2 coming Summer 2013

P.S.
Cover thoughts......  When did college professors start looking like this? Cause if this was the norm enrollment would be much higher. Just sayin.*giggle*snort*
