Sookie countdown #2 ... Living Dead in Dallas

Living Dead in Dallas (Sookie Stackhouse, #2)

Book two in the Sookie Stackhouse series was when I really began to get hooked on this series.  We got to spend more time with our sneaky little viking...  Eric.  It's also the book that further agitated me in regards to Bill.  For someone who is clearly so possessive of Sookie he is quick to hand her over to other men.  Got self-esteem issues much Bill???  In Book one he tells her to go to Sam if anything ever happens to them and then as I'm finishing book two he tells her to go to ERIC...  so perhaps I might be a little misguided in C. Harris's intentions.  Could she end up with our favorite vampire viking??  HHmmmmm...  guess we'll find out on May 7th.
Book two was full of action...  Sookie finds a dead body...  which leads to another mystery to solve in Bon Temps.  She is attacked by a Maenad and nearly dies.  She gets loaned to another vampire community in Dallas by Eric to help solve the mystery of a missing vampire.  This, of course leads Sookie into dangerous situations and she acquires once again plenty of bumps and bruises.  I enjoyed the faster pace of the story in book two but what I enjoyed most was our introduction to Eric and his growing fascination with Sookie.  Here are some of my favorite moments from book two (slight spoilers):

~Sookie demands an apology from Eric for being attacked by the Maenad...  Eric's apology:
"Angelic Sookie, vision of love and beauty, I am prostrate that the wicked, evil maenad violated your smooth and voluptuous body, in an attempt to deliver a message to me."
I think that was when Sookie began to realize that sometimes you get exactly what you ask for from Eric.  hehe

~Eric:  "Besides, I'm hoping the more you see me, the more I'll grow on you."
Sookie:  "Like a fungus?"
That was a good one Sookie...  :)

~Eric to Sookie:  "My shirts always get ruined when I'm around you."

~Answering machine message at Fangtasia:
"For bar hours press one.  To make a party reservation, press two.  To talk to a live person or a dead vampire, press three.  Or, if you were intending to leave a humorous prank message on our answering machine, know this:  we will find you."

~Eric to Sookie:
"So, you want me to go to a human orgy, where I will not be welcome, and you want us to leave before I get to enjoy myself?"
He shows up later at Sookie's house in a pink tank top and lycra leggings...  OMG...  laugh out loud funny!

And those are just a "few" of my favorites.  We also get a sneak peak of Pam (Eric's progeny) in this book...  a character that I absolutely love in this series.

Well, now it is on to book three in our countdown which it titled "Club Dead"...  review to come!
